Modified Time Table and Daily Schedule

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for your feedback around the arrangements we have put in place for students working from home. As you will appreciate, adapting to the "new normal" has been a steep learning curve for our entire school community and we appreciate the positive and constructive commentary we have been receiving in relation to online learning.

In listening to your feedback, it has become apparent that students are missing the routine of school and would like strategies around time management. To that end, we have published a Learning from Home Modified Timetable and a Learning from Home Daily Schedule for use in term 2.

This Modified Timetable can be followed by all students, whether at home or at school, and follows the student's usual daily timetable with some tweaks. Lessons will commence at 9.15 and end at 2.30. Each 1 hour lesson will comprise a 10 minute check in with the teacher through Google Classroom (explicit instruction and opportunity for students to ask questions), a 35 minute lesson following the schedule on Google Classroom (student directed work) and a 15 minute break. Teachers will not be delivering 'online learning' for the entire period, but rather just setting students up for the lesson and making it clear what should be covered. There will be a longer break for lunch between period 3 and 4. The timetable includes times for CREW check in on Monday and Friday, and also contains suggestions for activities for 2.30pm to 3.25pm. Afternoons are also a valuable time for students to assist with family activities.

Hard copy materials will still be made available for collection from the school gym, or they can be mailed out on request.

The Daily Schedule is intended to support students by providing some guidance for students in managing their time. We also appreciate that there will be times that students are not able to adhere to the advised timetable. It is important to provide some structure but we also understand that families have various priorities during these uncertain times.

Again, thank you for your input and support over the past weeks.

Yours sincerely

Carolyn Lasker
