Student opportunities and activities

Debating and public speaking

Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.

Creative and performing arts

Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.

Trips and excursions

Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.

Future Teachers Club

An opportunity for students to work with other like-minded students to deliver lessons and activities to younger students. Involvement in club allows students to build confidence, organisational and leadership skills. FTC students regularly attend Newling's slimefest, ASC Stage 3 STEM Day, excursions to university to learn about teaching and career pathways, Teach Week and annual FTC Conference.

Boost

BOOST is a Christian group for students to grow in faith together. Anyone is welcome to come along for food, a relaxed community, and time to explore the bible and pray. BOOST is led by students and supported by Mr Mulready. Meeting every lunch time in C104

Environmental Club

The Environmental Focus Group at Armidale Secondary College (ASC) is a dedicated, student-led initiative aimed at making a positive difference around the school and reducing the environmental footprint. Guided by staff member Mr. Jamie Suddaby, the group engages in hands-on sustainability projects, such as collecting and returning 10c Bottle and Cans from the school, and community service.

Table Tennis Squad

ASC is good at table tennis! We have a squad that trains 3 or 4 times a week and a school team that regularly makes State Finals

Mathematics Squad

Challenge yourself with Mathematical thinking competitions. In this club we regularly strive for national distinctions and state-level excellence.

Rainbow Club

The Rainbow Club at Armidale Secondary College is a safe, supportive space for LGBTQIA+ students and allies to express themselves, build confidence, and find belonging, while raising awareness about homophobia through activities and events. It fosters resilience and leadership among its members, helping them become role models within the school community

ASC Dance ensemble

Open to all students interested in dance. This group focuses on collaboration and performance opportunities include New England Dance Eisteddfod and Regional Dance Festival.

ASC Dance Company

An audition-based group for dedicated performers. Performance opportunities include the New England Dance Eisteddfod and Schools Spectacular. This group will also audition for State Dance Festival.

Urban Dance Group

Brand new for 2026! A student-led Hip-Hop crew where choreography is a collaboration. Performing at community events all year long. Rehearsals 1 Lunch a week.

The Daily Grind

The daily grind is a student led coffee cart ran by year 9 students with EOI's going out at the start of every semester.

Debating Team

Meet and prepare for debating competitions throughout the year. See Mr Robertson or any of the English Staff if interested.

Breakfast club

Thanks to Foodbank, ASC is able to provide breakfast to all students. Breakfast is run by the beautiful staff of ASC. Come and join the wonderful atmosphere in D block for toast and cereal before Crew.

Senior English Study Group/Tutoring Club

If you're a student in year 11 or 12 who wants to work on their English skills such as essay writing or peer revision, come join the Senior English Tutoring Club. See the English Staff in D2 staffroom if interested. Date and time determined by students involved.
