Special Religious Education at Armidale Secondary College

On enrolment parents/carers have the choice of enrolling their child in SRE, either via the Online Enrolment System. Students will continue the same arrangement as the previous year, unless a parent or carer has requested a change in writing.

Combined Christian SRE is currently offered at Armidale Secondary College. SRE is delivered in fortnightly timetabled classes for students in Years 7-10 and quarterly seminars for Years 11-12.

All SRE teachers are authorised and trained by an approved provider. The approved SRE providers included in the combined Christian arrangement are:

  • Australian Christian Churches (Armidale City Church)
  • Anglican Diocese of Armidale
  • Baptist Union of NSW
  • Catholic Diocese of Armidale
  • Churches of Christ in NSW (Fresh Hope)
  • Presbyterian Church of Australia (NSW)
  • The Salvation Army
  • Seventh-Day Adventist Church
  • Uniting Church in Australia (NSW Synod)

Christian SRE engages students in conversations as they question life, explore values and discover faith. The Christian SRE curriculum is authorised by the Anglican Diocese of Armidale. The curriculum is based on Good News about Jesus Christ and learning the key elements of the Christian life and culture and can be found at:
